Hello beauties! I have missed you all while on vacation! I am still working very hard to catch up on everyone’s blog and IG posts as well as the many emails I recieved.
Before going on a trip, I put just as much thought into my traveling outfit as I do with all my other outfits. The white t-shirt and jeans are a classic. I make sure that I am at my most comfortable while being cramped in an airplane with the other 130+ passengers. Here are five tips that I like to follow while choosing a travel outfit.
1) Dress Comfortable from Head to Toe.
Let’s start with the head; I don’t know about you but if my headphones give me a tinyest bit of discomfort, I’ll throw them right back into my traveling bag and catch up on some reading instead. Make sure to test out your headphones before traveling to see if they feel and fit well. I am currently using (and obsessing over) Sudio’s VASA in pink. These headphones are sleek, chic, and lightweight.
I have tiny ears. (I use to get teased when I was younger for how small my ears are.) So finding headphones that actually stay in my ears, is nearly impossible. So I put these VASA headphones to the test and took a quick “run” with them and fortunatley, they stayed in! As for the sound….crisp, clear, and exquisite quality. I’m telling you, these headphones are worth every penny!

Okay, moving on. Make sure to wear loose-fitting clothing and that everything feels light and breathable. Avoid the jeans that you have to lie down to zip up. Boyfriend jeans are the best pair of pants that are both stylish, sexy, and comfy. As for my jeans, I am actually wearing jeggings and I am O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with them! They are unbelievably cozy. Now to your freshly pedicured toes. Choose comfortable shoes that are easy to slip on and off during security check. Those people that take forever to lace up their shoes drive me up the wall. Be courteous to others and don’t hold up the line. And never wear new shoes that need to be broken in for obvious reasons.
2) Dress in layers.
Refer to my blog post, ‘How To Wear A Maxi Cardigan‘ for details.
Always dress in layers and make sure your last layer is always a short sleeve top. Even if your flying in the winter months, airplanes can be hot and humid durning boarding. It is not until take off when they usually turn on the air. A maxi cardigan or military jacket/vest is a perfect layer for the warmer months. As for the cooler months, always add a third layer, don’t settle for two layers. You will need a coat, sweater, and top.
3) Wear Pockets.
It is so much easier to just pull out your ID or boarding ticket out of a pocket than it is to dig through your purse. Pockets will save you a lot of time and it’s nice to have your essentials (phone, chapstick, ect.) right next to you instead of having to bend down and search under the seat in front of you. There is just never enough room under there.
4.) Actually Wear Your Valuable Jewelry While Traveling.
My wedding ring and pandora bracelet are important to me and there is no way I would ever pack them in my check in bag or even my traveling bag. Most airport security staff are very professional and have excellent morals, however there might be a bad seed in any airport. To avoid items getting lost or stolen, wear them while traveling or simply leave them home in a safe place.
5) Stay Stylish.
Just because you are traveling does not give you permission to throw fashion out the window. Even if you are more of a ‘sweatpants traveler’, you can still feel just as stylish as ever by reading my previous post, ‘How To Wear Sweatpants Outside the Home‘.
I love adding a scarf while traveling no matter what month it is. I like to fold it or roll it up and use it as a pillow for when I need some quick shut-eye. This Jingu Scarf from Portelli is the perfect scarf to stay warm, cozy, and stylish. Make sure to check out their website and products for more beautiful patterns and high quality accessories.
I’d love to hear from you! What’s your go-to necessities for a traveling outfit?
