Victoria and I have a tradition of having a Galentine’s staycation weekend every year at one of our favorite hotel’s in DC. This year, we both knew we wanted to spend our girls weekend at The Graham Hotel in Georgetown.
Victoria is getting married and will soon move to New York City. And though that doesn’t mean our annual Galentine’s weekend will come to an end, it does mean that this may be the last weekend that I will have alone with her for a while.
Victoria and I have visited The Graham’s rooftop bar and speakeasy, The Alex, multiple times in the past but have never stayed as a guest. The Alex is easily my favorite place in DC to sit and listen to a live band while enjoying my favorite cocktail which is their signature bathtub drink. (Make sure to ask for Andrew the bartender! The man knows how to mix a drink!)
Upon our arrival, I immediately noticed how genuinely kind and caring the staff was. We were greeted with smiling faces and warm conversation. Anyone who has met Victoria and
But now it was time to get our two-night Galentine’s staycation started! So Victoria and I popped open the champagne, ordered room service, and turned on The Bachelor so we can start our drinking game and make fun of every second of it. Our first night was spent in pajama’s, tucked in their cozy, luscious beds. It was the perfect night for relaxation after a long work day.
If you plan on ordering room service at The Graham, I highly recommend ordering the crab cakes and truffle fries.
The next day, all this mama could think about was the giant bathtub that was waiting for me. This is one of only two suites with a bathtub and we were lucky enough to get one. Never have I ever seen a tub so large, let alone bathe in one! I guess you could say I was bubbling with joy.
That day, we had the most wonderful brunch at The Alex. And let me tell you, they have THE BEST shrimp and grits that you will ever try in your lifetime. I know that sounds extreme, but everyone at our table said that they could no longer eat grits anywhere else because these easily put all other recipes to shame. (An unnamed friend, whose identity is being protected for personal safety purposes, even said that they were better than his mothers…)
I also recommend ordering either the chicken and biscuits or the chicken and waffles because their chicken is juicy and cooked to perfection.
The last evening spent at The Graham, we headed back to their speakeasy after a day of running around in Georgetown and enjoyed our favorite cocktails with some friends. We shared many laughs with old and new friends and gave Andrew the bartender a hard time. When the night was over, we headed back into that comfy bed where it swallowed us up into a deep sleep.
