I’m not one to share every detail of my life on my blog and I am not so easily vulnerable.
But today, I am feeling defeated. I feel trampled upon. I feel heavy, heartbroken, and disappointed.
This morning I shared this on my Instagram, “Be patient and understanding. Life is too short to be vengeful or malicious.”
Every person that steps into your life, cherish them. Every stranger you encounter, extend grace and love. Every friendship you have built, protect it.
And whatever you say, whatever you let spill out of your mouth, say it in love. Life is far too valuable to waste it on being unkind, ungrateful, and unforgiving.
When the opportunity presents itself, be fearfully kind. Be fearfully gracious. And love unconditionally.

In the midst of defeat, discouragement, or doubt, it tends to be my own thoughts that seem to nurture these feelings. It is my own self-deprecating judgment and my “what if’s” that lead me to fear, sorrow, and even pain. When in the midst of discouragement, my husband always reminds me of the verse, Phillippians 4:8. “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is excellent, beautiful, and respected, think of such things.” And he reminds me to become aware of my train of thought. Building awareness of your thoughts will build a better foundation for your life. Taking captive of every thought forms a better you and shapes a greater, purposeful life. Your thoughts create your self.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. (Prov 4:8)
Thoughts turn into feelings that can trigger stress, anxiety, or pain. Which turn into words and actions. And words and action can either bring life or death. It is important to identify our thoughts by asking ourselves if our thoughts reflect God’s thoughts. Talk yourself up. Tell yourself you are willing and capable to do all things in His strength. Do not speak the enemy’s lies to yourself that echo past mistakes and vulnerabilities. Different thought leads to different actions.
Identify your thoughts and how you perceive yourself.
Is this thought helping me?
Is this thought hurting me?
Is this thought causing me to fear?
Is this thought hindering me?
Is this what God says about me?
Is this what God says about this situation?
God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid, but a spirit of power, and love, and self-control. – 2 Tim. 1:7
I am very picky when it comes to finding the right trench coat. When I first saw this trench coat, it was love at first sight! Owning a classic trench coat is a fashion necessity, and it is within just about anyone’s reach. I love how versatile they are and that they give that extra polished finish to any outfit. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when choosing the right trench coat for yourself:
1.) Choose the right hemline.
Right at the knee or shorter is the perfect length for most body figures.
If you’re petite like myself, shorter is better, and adding a heel will add length to your frame. You taller ladies will look better in a longer trench coat than us shorties.
If you choose a longer trench, choose under pieces that are form fitting to prevent from looking frumpy. Slouchy pants, maxi dresses, and skirts are not recommended to match with any trench coat.
2.) Choose the right sleeve length.
You don’t want your sleeves eating up your hands. Your sleeves should fall right at your wrist bone. Also, make certain that your jacket is not too tight, your coat should not restrict your arms from moving.
2.) Belt or no belt.
For taller ladies, tying the belt will help add structure.
Ladies with larger busts or bigger tummies should avoid belting a trench coat, as it will only add bulk to this area of your body. Instead, choose a more form-fitting coat and tie the belt behind your back to create shape to the coat. As seen in the picture below.
Experiment with your trench coat. Try on different colors at the store before you set your mind on just one. When choosing a color, consider the clothes you already own to make certain that the coat stays versatile. When you find that perfect one, experiment with different outfits to wear with your tench. Wear it with a little black dress, skinny jeans, or simply layer your coat and roll the sleeves up.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope all of you have a wonderful week!
I wanted to take a moment to thank Timothy Eugene for this time, talent, kindness, and friendship. It was over a cup of coffee in a shop in Old Town Alexandria, where I had the privilege of meeting Timothy and where this concept originated. After putting together ideas for this shoot, both of us couldn’t wait to execute our vision.
Timothy, these photos are simply breathtaking! Your work and talent speak for itself. I also want to thank you for being the kind, genuine person you are. Your support has meant a lot to me. Keep doing you, because your work, skills, and character are appreciated by a lot of people! Thank you again for these outstanding photos! Josh and I will cherish these forever.
Today is my husband’s birthday! Happy 104th birthday, my love! You don’t look a day over 89! 😉
When I met Josh, I was immediately taken back by his heart and character. It was the first thing I noticed, the first thing my heart desired, the first thing I fell in love with.
To this day, it still leaves me in awestruck. It still persuades me. It still pursues me.
Josh, this is what I see and know when I look at you…
It was the first thing I noticed.
The first thing that I was drawn to.
I knew it was precious.
I knew it was exceptional.
I wanted to know and hold onto every part.
It seeks after divinity.
It syncs with adoration.
And opens to diversity.
Its purity is esteemed by all who know him.
Its beat mimics joy.
It’s rhythm pumps with courage.
Its tempo reminds me of calm, smooth waters.
How I am captivated by it.
How I want to reflect its nature.
How I want to hold onto it for eternity.
But the one thing that I will always admire and love;
Is that it’s a heart that seeks after God’s own heart.
And because of that, it bestows favor.
His heart is grounded.
His heart is rooted.
His heart is consistent.
How undefiled it is.
How incredibly wise.
I learn from it. I grow from it. I admire it.
My love, I am yet human.
One who has countless faults.
One who is undeserving of such attribution.
My words may scar it.
My actions may trample it.
My selfishness may afflict it.
But even so, I will live to protect it.
I will live to defend it.
I will live to devote myself to it.
I’ll chase it.
I’ll fight for it.
I’ll always yearn for it.
Because I have studied its ways.
And you have revealed every part to me.
And even though I know its secrets, its weakness, its guilt.
It will forever mesmerize me with its spirit.
It will always astonish me with its goodness.
And it will endlessly captivate my love for you.
May our lives be knit together forever.
May our souls be intertwined.
May our love never cease in this home which we have built.
For with you, I am strong.
For with you, I am fearless.
Your love and affection are twin pillars, without whom I could not stand.
Together we are one.
Together we withstand.
Together, my love, we will live out God’s plan.
Happy birthday, my love.
