Last month I had the privilege of working with the Tim Souza to model the BHLDN wedding dress collection from Anthropologie and be featured in the Virginia Bride Magazine’s March issue.
The BHLDN line features a blend of vintage, Boho, romantic, and modern wedding dresses. But before I talk about the gowns, I want to quickly introduce you to the photographer, the team, and the models who happen to be some of my closest friends.
Photographer: Tim Souza was INCREDIBLE to work with. And honestly, that is a huge understatement. If you can’t tell by the big smiles in some of the photos, Tim and the entire team were so fun, energetic, and incredibly kind. Thank you, Tim, for allowing me to have the privilege to be apart of this incredible day.
Hair & Makeup: Our hair and makeup crew (Agape) were simply, wonderful! I was completely obsessed with how my fishtail braid came out that I didn’t want to take it out – ever. The ladies were so lovely to work with and I enjoyed laughing and learning from them. If you are a bride-to-be, I highly recommend you book with Agape.
Floral Arrangements: Okay y’all, do you see the second bouquet that I’m holding? It was by far my favorite! Why? Wait for it…
Because it’s made of cabbage! (WHATTTT?!?!?) Although, I would totally be one of those brides who would take a bite out of it when I get hangry. Just hide a mini bottle of ranch somewhere and you have a salad!
All of the lovely floral arrangements that you see were provided by Vintage Floral Design.
Models: I am very blessed to call these drop-dead gorgeous women, my friends.
Yasmine, who is a new up-and-coming blogger here in DC, is actually one of my best friends and I can’t tell you enough how much fun we had together during this shoot. I was thrilled to have had shared this experience with her.
Kym, is such a beautiful soul and one who inspires me daily. This girl never ceases to surprise me. She is talented all the way around and one who is grounded and true. I take all my modeling notes from her.
Tonya, in my eyes, is THE D.C. blogger and who everyone should be following. Just trust me and click on her name, and you’ll see what I am talking about. Tonya just recently got engaged shortly after this shoot, so make sure you go congratulate her!
I had the privilege of meeting Jamie Rae for the first time during this shoot and the word that best describes her is Wonderwoman! She had just got off a plane an hour before the shoot and she looked flawless. I mean, how is that even possible!? She also has an adorable son that you have to see (click her name.)
The Gowns: Okay, now to the fun stuff!!!
I loved these gowns so much that I didn’t want to take them off. I felt like a little kid throwing a fit when they said I had to get out of it. Especially the Rowena Gown! I couldn’t stop spinning in it. I mean, just look at my smile. PURE BLISS!
All the gowns were incredibly light and comfortable and each lady looked breathtaking in them. And all I have to say is, thank god I don’t have to get married again because I wouldn’t be able to decide on a dress. I would want them all!
If you really want a good laugh, make sure to watch the behind the scenes videos of this shoot on my Instagram. Just look through my highlights and click “bridal shoot.”
Thank you BGLDN for letting us model your beautiful gowns!

Brave is not a feeling that you should wait for.
It is a decision.
It’s being fearlessly kind.
Courage is loving the unloved.
Courage is forgiving the unforgiving.
Courage is seeing the unseen.
On the rooftop of The Hotel Hive. It was twenty degrees outside. TWENTY!
Every time I stay at the Hotel Hive, I am always greeted by the most friendly staff who go above and beyond for me.
Needing drinks to keeps us warm. 😉
I found that when it’s cold outside, you develop new poses just to stay warm.
In one of the rooms at Hotel Hive,
…and enjoying some pizza in bed.
The rooms have these cute sayings throughout the hotel,
…you can find them on the ceilings, on the mirrors, the pottery.
The bubbles weren’t cooperating. I forget how many times we had to do this to get the perfect shot, but trust me when I say it was a lot!
Best Galentine’s ever all thanks to these gorgeous friends of mine! (I really do have the most beautiful friends!)
Special thanks to:
Marcus for capturing this funfilled night.
To Liz and Jacqui at the Hotel Hive DC. You two made our stay exceptionally wonderful.
To everyone at &pizza for feeding our tummies.

When we exhale
when we speak
when thought is put into sound
let our lips mimic the note of honesty and love all around.
When hands break wind
when feet dig into earth
when motion is put into place
be sure your actions reflect dignity, humility, wisdom, and grace.
When opportunities approach
when chances come your way
when it’s time to step out, speak out, and stand out
be sure to move with the kindness and compassion
that you yourself may need one day.
For every person
for every beating heart
there is something worth knowing
When time is spent respecting, caring, and protecting
you find that it’s captivating, contagious, exhilarating.
And every echo of kindness you send out into the world
the repercussions come back ten fold.
